Mailhot strives to contribute to Quebec’s economic growth while improving the well-being of its community. To do this, as a corporate citizen, the company has implemented a number of environmental and social initiatives. It continually seeks to reduce the negative impacts of its activities on the environment and is actively involved in the community through its support for the Fondation Yvan Morin.
Environment
For Mailhot, protecting the environment is central to the company’s corporate responsibility initiatives. Ongoing investments in research and development have enabled the company to implement a sustainable development program and bring about innovative solutions that respect the environment.
- Eco-design program (measures environmental impact throughout a product’s development and attempts to reduce the negative effects at every stage)
- Salt bath nitriding process replaces the hard chromium coating of steel (CR6)
- Nitriding reduces solid, liquid and gas waste
- Water treatment by osmosis (gaseous)
- Implementation of a hydraulic cylinder recycling program (the use of nitriding gives steel tubes a second life)
- Recycling hydraulic cylinders reduces the amount of steel discarded and reduces manufacturing operations, hence lower energy use
Fondation Yvan Morin
At Mailhot, we believe social and humanitarian commitment is an integral part of corporate responsibility. The company is involved in its community through the Fondation Yvan Morin. Established in 1993, the charitable organization’s mission is to improve the quality of life of people in need by providing spiritual and material support.
To do this, the organization encourages education by awarding bursaries to children of Mailhot Industries employees, and helps the less fortunate by supporting a number of charitable organizations and missionary work.
The Fondation Yvan Morin relies on Mailhot customers, suppliers, employees and friends to collect donations to meet its objectives – 100% of funds raised benefit the organization’s mission.
