Mailhot industries is currently seeking a Product Engineer

RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the supervision of the Vice President Engineering and R&D, the incumbent analyzes, organizes and executes various activities related to Mailhot products. Working closely with members of the Engineering, Sales and R&D teams, the incumbent is responsible for the technical aspects of the products, and visits customers and equipment users who use Mailhot cylinders.

  • Take charge of the technical portion of products in collaboration with the Engineering, Sales and R&D departments;
  • Visit customers and users of mobile equipment (trucks) to gather requirements and understand operating conditions;
  • Actively participate in the development of new products and the improvement of existing products (according to the "stage gate PDP" process);
  • Develop product development project documentation;
  • Refine documentation related to standard products and specify their characteristics according to their dedicated function;
  • Gather and consolidate necessary information and perform engineering validations to enable product decision-making;
  • Provide diagnostic and test analysis support for existing products;
  • Participate in theoretical calculations of hydraulic cylinders (capacity, buckling, breaking or endurance limits, service life, etc.);
  • Work with and support the sales department on product requests;
  • Work with and support the purchasing department on product-related requests;
  • Participate in optimization, risk resolution and design-to-cost initiatives in collaboration with the Purchasing Department;
  • All other tasks related to the position.

DESIRED SKILLS

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering;
  • Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ);
  • 10 years' experience in a similar position in a manufacturing environment;
  • Mechanical knowledge of mobile and lifting equipment;
  • Good knowledge of hydraulic and mechanical systems;
  • High level of skills in data analysis, synthesis, engineering calculations and project management;
  • Good command of the Office suite;
  • Knowledge of drawing databases;
  • Functional English (spoken and written);
  • The person will be required to travel to customer facilities and truck sites.
