Government of Canada invests in Lanaudière's manufacturing sector by supporting Mailhot Industries
On November 14, 2023, Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions announced financial assistance totalling $4 million to support the growth of two Lanaudière companies, Industries Harnois and Industries Mailhot.
This financial assistance will enable Industries Mailhot to remain at the cutting edge of technology and pursue its growth in the hydraulic cylinder market by deploying a 4.0 project to automate its production process. This major contribution will enable the company to acquire an automated cell combining a grinder (combined machining and sandblasting) and a cutting-edge laser welding robot is underway. This project represents a substantial investment of $20 million and its implementation should lead to an increase in productivity and production capacity of almost 70% at its plant in Canada, as well as a reduction in manufacturing costs.
"This financial assistance from DEC is a testament to the success of our Lanaudière-based company and marks a new chapter in its history of success since 1956. This automation and innovative new processes will support our employees in meeting the company's growing production demands and will enable us to reaffirm our position as leader in our industry.” says Charles Massicotte, CEO and co-owner.
Recognized for the excellence of its products, its innovations and its impeccable after-sales service, Mailhot relies on the expertise of its employees to meet the specific needs and requirements of its customers in North America. Over the last few years, Mailhot's impressive growth has been supported by the development of unique and innovative processes that provide cylinders with increased resistance.
